The future of MONUC's mandate

The Democratic Republic of Congo: a country at war for nearly 15 years and home of the largest and most expensive peace-keeping mission in the world: MONUC.

UN Security Council ambassadors are assessing their role in the country as its current mandate comes to an end in May. A particularly significant assessment because the Congolese government is in fact demanding the departure of MONUC...
